An Off-Grid Box device has been donated to the “Forlanini” hospital in Mogadishu by the Multinational CIMIC Group team detached to the Italian National Support Element of the European Union Training Mission (EUTM).

The Off-Grid Box is a multifunction box that uses solar energy to sanitize water and deliver power supply to the hospital facilities. In addition to the Off-Grid Box device, the CIMIC specialists have donated 300 containers for water collection, 100 Power Banks for electricity generation, 200 LED bulbs, 1 boiler for hot water supply and an induction plate, both connected to the same Off Grid Box device.

At the inauguration ceremony were present the Mayor of Mogadishu, Omar Mohamud Mohamed (Finnish), the 1st Secretary of the Italian Embassy in Somalia, Dr. Fabio Ballerini, the Commissioner of the Abdi Aziz District, Mr Mahdi Farah Abdulle, the Mission Force Commander of the EUTM-Somalia mission, Brigadier General Fabiano Zinzone, the Italian National Contingent Commander, Ten. Col. Licio DETTORI.

During their speeches the Mayor of the capital and the director of the hospital, Dr. Fadumo, highlighted the continuous support of the CIMIC operators, expressing their gratitude to the entire Italian contingent deployed in the horn of Africa.

The humanitarian project was made possible thanks to the liaison activity carried out by the CIMIC cell of IT-NSE composed by of personnel from the Multinational CIMIC Group.
