SEMINAR ON THE LOWER SCEBELI PROMOTED BY THE CIMIC OPERATORS OF THE MNCG

The effective cooperation between the Italian and US military in favor of the Somali population continues

Somalia, June, 2021.
The last of three days dedicated to the promotion of projects for the development of fishing, agriculture and health in the Lower Scebeli region of Somalia, took place at the International Campus in Mogadishu.
The cycle of meetings, both in presence and remotely, was moderated by the CIMIC Team of the National Contingent in support of the EUTM-Somalia mission. The US military of the Civil Military Support Element Somalia (CMSE SOM), the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) representatives and political and economic authorities of Lower Scebeli participated in the meetings.
The initiative was aimed at encouraging new synergies amongst the actors to favor the improvement of the population conditions and to promote interventions in favor of the displaced persons, agriculture and fishing fields in the towns of Merca and Gianale, about 100 km south of Mogadishu.
The head of the CIMIC Cell, Lt. Col. Matteo Mineo, highlighted how the commitment of the Civil-Military Cooperation towards the population in Lower Scebeli will see future growth with the development of new dedicated projects.
