NIGER: QIP FOR DISASTER MANAGEMENT

MISIN's CIMIC staff has developed a project for the management of floods to protect the local population

Niger, September, 2021.
In recent weeks, at the military airport of Niamey, the CIMIC operators, as part of the Bilateral Support Mission in Niger (MISIN), have delivered material for the management of natural disasters and floods in favor of the Ministry of Humanitarian Action and Disasters in Niger. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Ambassador of Italy, her Excellency Emilia Gatto and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Humanitarian Action and Disaster Management, Madame Bintou Mery Djibrilou. The Quick Impact Project is part of the cooperation activity coordinated by the CIMIC cell, made up by Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) staff, in favor of the Nigerine population. The cell, recently in the operational theater, immediately got to work planning and conducting multiple projects in support of non-military actors. Regarding the QIP, the endowments will allow the Nigerine counterpart to support the population during the rainy season. Such moments are often marked by violent floods of the Niger River which, periodically, cause considerable damage to civilians living along the banks.
