LAGOON TRAINING FOR MNCG

The Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) Battalion has prepared 11 new coadjutors ready to be employed for national and Atlantic Alliance needs

In modern operational scenarios, characterized by a dynamism and information speed unparalleled compared to the same ones of only a few decades ago, cooperation between civil and military organizations is of fundamental importance: operational success in fact passes from a constant and fruitful connection between the military actors and non-military ones, present in the area. The staff of the Multinational CIMIC Group is specialized, through a unique educational offer within the Atlantic Alliance, which allows to train operators and coadjutors with the appropriate skills to create the necessary conditions indispensable to bridge the civil-military gap in areas of crisis or in wartime. For this purpose, the coadjutors course was conducted, divided into 3 weeks, from 6 to 24 September 2021, and in full compliance with the restrictions envisaged for containment by COVID-19. Following a selection process, Battalion personnel have been trained to support the figure of the CIMIC operator in order to contribute decisively to the achievement of the assigned tasks, through the development of the main functions of civil-military cooperation and the understanding of the complex and articulated dynamics of the operational scenarios in which the unit is employed. The staff, after a first phase of theoretical lessons on effective communication, on the CIMIC doctrine and on the planning and conduct of activities in peace support operations or in higher intensity scenarios, was called to apply the technical-tactical procedures learned through role-playing games, patrols aimed at assessing the operating environment and tactical acts in support of CIMIC activities. The practical phase took place through the conduct of the "Adriatic Freedom" exercise which foreseen the new CIMIC assistants deployed between Pasiano di Pordenone and at the Venice lagoon, between Cavallino Tre Porti and Burano with the support of the Lagunari Regiment.
The course, born on the basis of the lessons learned in the various Operational Theaters in which the Multinational CIMIC Group operators are called to work, has been perfected over the years, aiming at increasing the technical-professional preparation of the attendees, with the goal of create highly qualified and professional figures, able to work in a joint and combined contexts and in complex environment, keeping the focus always on civil-military cooperation landscape. The course ended with a speech by the MNCG Commander, Colonel Mattia Zuzzi, who in underlined the importance of being ready to operate in any context and at any time required.
