VISIT OF THE MULTINATIONAL CIMIC GROUP COMMANDER TO THE SLOVENIAN MINISTRY OF DEFENCE
Ljubljana, 8 October 2025 – The Commander of the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG), Colonel Piero FURLAN, accompanied by the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, 1st Warrant Officer Antonio COLIA, met with key civil and military authorities from the Slovenian Ministry of Defence and the Slovenian Armed Forces Headquarters.
The visit took place as part of the regular outreach activities to CIMIC units from the MNCG contributing nations, aimed at strengthening dialogue, interoperability, and mutual understanding among CIMIC professionals across Europe. At the Slovenian Ministry of Defence in Ljubljana, Colonel Furlan held an office call with Dr. Mateja ROKVIC, Director of the Directorate for Defence Affairs. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on ongoing activities and explore future cooperation opportunities, particularly in the field of training and employment of functional specialists.
The discussion also focused on current and potential joint initiatives between the Directorate and the MNCG regarding CIMIC and Functional Specialists education and development. Later, the MNCG delegation visited the Joint Forces Command of the Slovenian Armed Forces in Vrhnika, where they were welcomed by Colonel Jure ROSULNIK, Chief of Staff to the Force Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Roman KERVINA, J9 Branch Chief, Major Tomaz ROGELJA, J9 Operations Section Chief, Major Vasja BUCAR, J3 Officer, and Ms. Nadja DZANKOVIC CIRAR, Head of the Civil Capabilities Section at the Ministry of Defence.
During the meeting, the Slovenian Armed Forces presented their CIMIC capabilities, national and international engagements, and the role of the military in supporting civil authorities during emergencies such as floods, storms, and wildfires. The open and constructive dialogue highlighted several areas of convergence and potential cooperation, especially in joint training and functional specialist development.
The visit concluded with a traditional exchange of gifts and a mutual commitment to further strengthen the partnership between the Multinational CIMIC Group and the Slovenian Armed Forces, fostering closer collaboration and shared growth in the field of civil-military cooperation.
