Somalia, June 23th, 2021.

In recent weeks the ITA-NSE CIMIC cell, made up by MNCG operators, has developed a Quick Impact Project (QIP), in collaboration with UNIMRI (Unione Nazionale Insigniti Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana - National Union Awarded Order of Merit of the Italian Republic), which provides for the donation of medical-surgical equipment in support to the Somali Minister of Health.
The activity, part of a support program for the health sector put in place by CIMIC, the Italian Embassy and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), was aimed at procuring an anaesthesia machine, a unit for electro-surgery, an electrocardiogram device and several pulse oximeters that will be used by the intensive care unit of the “De Martino” Hospital, a center of medical excellence and the only COVID center in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
The final ceremony of the QIP, held on 23th June 2021, was attended by the Somali Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur, the Ambassador of Italy, HE Alberto Vecchi, and the head of the CIMIC cell of the National Contingent in Mogadishu, Lt.Col. Matteo Mineo, who, after the ribbon was cut, visited the premises of the COVID Center, meeting some doctors and patients. Before formally closing the activity, local authorities brought their warmest thanks to the donors and the promoters of the activity connected from Italy: the President of UNIMRI, Cav. Giovanni Porcaro, the Multinational CIMIC Group Commander, Col. Mattia Zuzzi, and the lawyer Barbara De Nardi.
Today's donation is the tangible representation of how the daily job of MNCG operators can liaise very far realities in order to connect them with the purpose to support local population of developing countries.
